5 Great reasons to shop at Hospice Shop

How shopping at Hospice Shop can help you, the planet and our community.

January 27, 2022

Pre-loved clothing and household items is recycling, and stops these items ending up in a landfill.

Hospice volunteer Jocelyn says one of the reasons she volunteers at the shop is because she’s “into everything being sustainable and upcycling different items”.

You can find great items, sometimes never used, for bargain prices! If you’re in your first flat it’s a great way of making your money go further.

Shopping for your children is also ideal at Hospice Shop, especially when they grow out of clothes so fast!

Op shopping feels like a treasure hunt, especially when you find an item that is fantastic quality and the price tag is cheap. Hospice Shop Rotorua often gets comments that show “disbelief, they can’t believe it’s an op shop! So many people say it’s the best retail shop in Rotorua” says Shop manager Gianne Reid. She also says “the turnover of stock is high and fast, so every week you’ll find new treasures.”

Hospice Shop is a great place to find items that create looks unique to your personal tastes rather than the latest trends. You’ll find antique items, vintage clothing that will spice up your life!

All nett proceeds go to making sure Rotorua Community Hospice can operate in the way the local community expects. A free service for anyone in Rotorua with a life-limiting illness.

Hospice CEO, Jonathon Hagger, says, “The shop provides the community with an easy to contribute way of supporting the work of Hospice. The greatest treasures of all in the shop are our staff and volunteers. The staff and volunteers don’t get to see how their contribution makes a difference but our patients and their families find out first hand”.

If you want to donate your great quality and cleaned clothing and household items to Hospice Shop you can:

This is Barbara's story

Don’t ever be frightened to ring Hospice and get support. They are wonderful. It’s not necessarily the end – they can help. The thing is when you’re a patient or a friend of a patient you don’t know how to deal with it. They do. That’s why I would do anything for Hospice.
