Delicious recipes, local connections. Order yours now!

August 18, 2020

More than just a recipe book, Volcanic Kitchens Cookbook comes with over 200 stunningly designed pages, complete with beautiful photographs, you’ll be welcomed to Apumoana Marae, immersed in the Hinemoa and Tutanekai story, recollect Rotorua events like the Wooden Boat Parade and Lakeside or meet Nabih Mansur – famous at the Rotorua Night Market.

Following on from the phenomenal success of the first edition of Volcanic Kitchens in 2012, comes Volcanic Kitchens, a further collection of recipes, stories and photographs. This book celebrates Rotorua; the community spirit, history, Maori culture, the ethnic communities, the landscape and the environment – all weaved into delicious and varied seasonal recipes from people with a local connection.

Plus, every purchase will directly support Rotorua Hospice care. With the support of local Rotarians, we’re aiming to raise $20,000 which can provide over 100 patients with a trained Health Care Assistant.

You’ll be cooking Hot Apple & Tamarillo Sponge from Ōwhata Marae, All Black’s Captain Sam Cane’s Beef Schnitzel, Aubergine & Potato Curry from the Patel family, Aunty Bea’s Curried Chicken or Gerhard’s own Matariki slow-roast lamb.

“We believe food plays an essential role in our community; it brings us together, shapes our memories and empowers us. Food so often creates the link which binds communities together, and sharing your meal or offering food to others is seen as a welcoming and comforting gesture.” Gerhard and Henri Egger
