Colourful window displays give a sneak peek but the best way to see what’s on offer is to pop in to the shop and have a look for yourself.

June 9, 2020

When level 2 was announced, the Hospice Shop Team were eager to implement the initiatives they had been working on while in lockdown.  A fresh coat of paint was first on the agenda, along with changes to the window display to allow more light into the shop.  Next up, rearranging the layout to create plenty of space for customers to move around safely.  A couple of further tweaks to ensure contact tracing, hand hygiene and social distancing measures were in place and the shop was ready to open.

“Our Hospice Shop contributes about a third of the money we need to raise every year to continue to provide our services free of charge” said Rotorua Community Hospice Business Manager, Lisa Pauling.  “Every purchase made helps support Rotorua Community Hospice”.

There was a great response to the Declutter & Keep campaign, where people were asked to store any items they planned to donate until the shop was open again.  The last few weeks have seen a wide range of items donated from good quality clothes, books and household items to large pieces of furniture.  All donations complete an offsite quarantine period before they make their way onto the shop shelves.

Warm winter clothing and blankets are especially popular with customers at the moment and the Shop Team have been busy making sure these sections are kept fully stocked.

Hospice Shop Retail Team Leader, Gianne Reid expressed her gratitude to the local community “A big thank you to everyone who has donated and shopped with us since level 2 started.  We love seeing our customers and appreciate everyone who has supported us by shopping local.  It’s been a busy time for us but we wouldn’t have it any other way”.

With new stock arriving every day, colourful window displays give a sneak peek as to what’s on offer in store, but the best way to see what treasures lie within is to pop in and have a look for yourself.

A word to the wise though, if you see something you like it’s always best to buy it there and then.  We’ve had some disappointed customers return the next day only to discover that gem they planned to buy has already been snapped up by another savvy shopper.

If you’re looking for something specific, our friendly Shop team are always happy to help.
